THE NEED OF COW PROTECTION IN URBAN INDIA

THE NEED OF COW PROTECTION IN URBAN INDIA   Go-Raksha or the Cow Protection can be accomplished only if one aims to serve the cows rather than be served by them. In classic agrarian model of life style, milk is not the goal of cow protection and the bull calf is more celebrated than the female calf because in earlier times, the bulls were considered to be more productive once trained and matured. Unfortunately modern dairy culture has got nothing to do with cow protection but everything to do with cow exploitation. More so these business dealers and traders breed, rear and protect only the exotic breeds and not the Desi Indigenous breed whose milk, urine and dung are all productive and has medicinal qualities. The consumerism culture that is getting popularized in urban India is also another reason behind the pathetic condition and declining population of Desi breeds of […]

Ban Cow Slaughter To Save Economy

The first slaughterhouse in India was started in 1760, with a capacity to kill 30,000 animals per day. At least one crore cows were killed in a year. Once the cows were slaughtered, then there was no manure and there is no insecticide like cow urine. In 1740 in the Arcot District of Tamil Nadu, 54 Quintals of rice was harvested from one acre of land using simple manure and pesticides like cow urine and cow dung. As a result of the 350 slaughterhouses which worked day and night by 1910 India was practically bereft of gau. India had to approach Britain’s doorstep for industrial manure. Thus industrial manure like urea and phosphate made way to India. The tragedy of the situation is since 1947 the number of slaughterhouses has increased from 350 to 36,000. The slaughter of cows has disrupted agranian based Indian economy and forced the people to […]

Cow-The Miraculous Doctor And Practical Methods Of Cow Protection

Cow-The Miraculous Doctor And Practical Methods Of Cow Protection (Chamitkaric Chikitsak) There is no need to establish the medicinal properties of Panchgavya today. Panchgavya is a term used to describe five major substances, obtained from cow, which include cow’s urine, milk, ghee, curd and dung. All the five products possess medicinal properties against many disorders and are used for the medicinal purpose singly or in combination with some other herbs. This kind of treatment is called Panchgavya therapy or cowpathy. The ancient ayurvedic literature (Vir Charak Samhita, Sushrut, Gad Nigrah) suggests a number of pharmacological applications of the substances obtained from Panchgavya. These substances are abundantly used in Ayurveda for treatment of several disorders such as leucoderma, hyperlipidemia, arthritis, renal disorders, dietary disorders, gastrointestinal track disorders, acidity, asthma etc. These remedies seem to be potent anticancer and anti HIV agents. Recently the cow urine has been granted U.S. Patents (No. […]

Cow Protection-Go-Raksha-and-Urbanization

One should follow the cows, feed them sufficiently, and circumambulate them. If the cows are happy then Lord Gopala is understood to be satisfied.” The real purpose of cow protection is to please the Supreme Lord Krsna. Milk, dung, urine, ghee, yoghurt and draught are the natural by-products and are considered most essential for religious rituals and producing the necessities for a wholesome life. In the Vedic agrarian model milk is not considered the goal of cow protection and a bull calf is celebrated more than a female calf as once trained, he is productive for more years than the dairy cows. “Excess males and unproductive females” are terms used by commercial dairy farmers that have nothing to do with cow protection but everything to do with cow exploitation. Urbanization and mechanization have rendered bulls unemployed whereas in the Vedic model the bull calves are valued more than the females […]

“Persons who are advancing in Krishna Consciousness should therefore take instruction from this pastime and also be very interested in cows and the holy name of Visnu” –Srila Prabhupada (in ‘Krsna – The Supreme Personality of Godhead’, Chap 6, Putana Killed, Pg-60) The Sankirtana movement Srila Prabhupada implanted all over the world is creating a revolution by making more and more receive sublime way of living in Krishna Consciousness. The central to the philosophy of Krishna Consciousness is however, “Simple Living – High Thinking”. And central to “Simple Living – High Thinking” is Cow. In other words, when there is no “Simple Living – High Thinking”, then there will be no Cow protection. Similarly, when there is no Cow protection there will be no “Simple Living […]

Saga of Foolishness!

“Bharat Varsha”, also known as “Arya Vart” and now constitutionally named as “India” is pre-dominantly a country of villages. The economy of this country is mainly based on Agriculture. Agriculture and no other culture is the culture of India. The king-pin of agriculture in the country is the Cow, other-wise known as “Kamdhenu”. Perhaps no country on Earth has the special relationship with cows that India does, a relationship that is often misinterpreted in the West as Cow-worship. The Cow in Indian Culture is considered as a mother figure nurturing life. It may be hard to believe, but “Independent India” now kills more cows than ever before! Even more than enslaved India under Christian British rule, or even the ruthless Moslem emperors! It is usually said today that you cannot really be sure if there is not a tiny little bit of some cow part in the pills or medicine […]

Vegetarianism – reasons of benifits

Reasons to why void non veg and adopt Vegetarianism Vegetarianism A lot of people think it’s a hassle. Truth is, meat-eating is the real hassle, the real self-sacrifice. I’ll explain: Economically Meat-eating is just about the most expensive legal habit you can have. It’s just way too much of a bummer for me to drive down to the store and shell out all that cash for a little slab of flesh. My approach is so much simpler – last night, for example, I tossed in three bucks grand total and made a big, tasty, filling dinner. It blows me away how expensive meat-eating is. Smart shopper, you don’t need me to tell you more – just truck on down to the supermarket and scope out the facts. Health With all the stress on cholesterol and that stuff, it’s no secret that meat is a time bomb. I can’t figure out […]
